3rd Places can be many and varied. Just as different people have different likes and dislikes, so to do they enjoy different places. Third Places can be beer gardens, main streets, cafes, markets, sporting clubs, neighbourhood houses …….any informal gathering place where people can congregate and feel inlcuded, welcomed and safe.
The hallmarks of a true "third place" are: free or inexpensive; food and drink; highly accessible: proximate for many (walking distance); welcoming and comfortable; involve regulars (those who habitually congregate there); new friends and old should be found there.
